July Meeting:

Normal Meeting sequence is as follows:

  1. Introduce Visitors.
  • Present Specific Club Information

MUD Club Picnic – Niles – Riverside Park – August 17. This is the last meeting before the MUD Club Picnic   We need volunteers to go early and set up an area, bring grills, and to purchase the steak & chicken. That said, we need a head count of who wants steak or chicken. It’s difficult to know what to buy w/o your input😊. If you cannot be at this meeting, please respond to emailed survey so we know what to purchase and for how many. Thanks

Ecology Dive- September 21: Planning begins NOW! We Need volunteers, prize suggestions & donations, and suggestions on how to get more participation.

  • Identify dive events upcoming or planned. (Dives & Road Trips)

Labor Day Week trip up north.

  • Identify & discuss diving-related news important to divers.
  • “Romas”, now called “Town Hall Pizza” open until 10PM on Tuesdays.  If you are going after the meeting, we should give them a heads up before we leave. Do we have someone volunteer to call?
  • Status of SWMUP Buoy Projects:
  • Present any Show & Tell.
  • Attendees speak about current diving experiences or lessons learned.
  • Open session.

June Meeting Highlights:

There were 14 members at the meeting. Items discussed or talked about include comments on the lakes (Lake 16, PPL, Cora, Gull,  etc.) and wrecks (Cedarville, Barnum, Eber Ward, and many, many more) having been dove, plans for the Labor Day Week trip up north, reminder about the Club Picnic August 17th, update on Lee Reeve’s travels in England & Norway. He has no diving planned but does have some scheduled kayak tours. 10 members went to the Town Hall Pizza (aka: Roma’s) after the meeting. It was quite enough to have conversations😊

Divers Corner:

Muddies have been active diving all around the Great Lakes and inland lakes too. Please continue to add your dives on the Mud Club Face Book site. Other divers like to know where you dove, ease of access, the water temperature, thermocline level and visibility.  And especially what did you see or find😊

Our newest club member is Deneise (Dee) Kinchen and has been added to the 2019-member list & club photo album. Dove with her a few weeks ago at Paw Paw Lake. Say Hi the next time you see her.

For current SW Michigan lake condition information go to-> https://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/ which takes you to UGLOS 45026 which is located off shore by the Cook Nuclear Plant and Waco Beach. Station 45168 is offshore of South Haven piers and 45170 is for Michigan City, Indiana. Using these sites will let you know if today is a good day for diving or sailing 😊

For those looking for a dive or dive buddy, keep checking in and updating the MUD Club Facebook site for “Thirsty Thursday” dives. Also check “SASS Wednesday Night Dive Club” (Calendar at a Glance:  info@sassdive.com) or Hart City Scuba’s “Hump Day Dive Schedule” (http://www.hartcityscuba.com/hump-day-dive-schedule.html).  There is NO reason not to be getting wet and/or having a buddy diver.

Check out these dive shops and their web sites that Muddy Divers use:

Wolf’s Marine Dive Shop, Benton Harbor, MI., Sub Aquatic Sports & Service, Battle Creek, MI., Divers Inc., Ann Arbor, MI., Hart City Scuba, Elkhart, IN., Just Add H2O, South Bend, IN [Michiana Divers]., Altek Sports – West Michigan Adaptive Diving, Zeeland, MI.

Each diver must know that they are responsible for their plan, their execution, their equipment and their safety!

Anyone can call a dive at any timeIt is ALWAYS OK to say “NO!”
