February
Next Meeting: Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Andrews University – Biology Amphitheater, Price Hall, Berrien Springs, MI – Meeting starts ~ 7:30 p.m. (3rd Tuesday of every month except December)
February Meeting:
Dues collection for those not yet paid up, review of identified dates on the 2010 schedule for changes/ discussion, and addition of dates and places you are willing to be the contact for, Show & Tell (if you bring something), and most anything else you’d like to talk about. I know we will be one member shy this meeting because they are in Florida getting in a shipwreck dive. It must be something to do with the warmer temperatures and soft water there!
While at the meeting take the opportunity to set up car pools for attending “Our World Underwater “ in Chicago (Saturday, February 20) and for the Ford Sea Horses – G.L Ship Wreck Festival (Saturday, February 27).
I need a hard count for those wanting to do the chamber dive in March. Let me know at this month’s meeting.
We intend to have the member phone books available at the March meeting so we need confirmed member information including correct email, phone numbers, and any other information you would like added.
Events since last meeting:
Jan 20: Winter photos were taken of our favorite ice covered lakes and placed on the club web site – see if you can recognize which lake is which.

Tidbit for today: Decompression sickness occurs in recreational divers at a rate of 1 to 4 per 10,000 dives. A consensus considering the use of deep stops for recreational dives within no-decompression limits are they are not necessary. The recommended safety stop and a controlled, slow assent rate are adequate for performing safe no-deco dives. (re: DAN -Alert Diver/ winter 2010)
