The Ironsides: Built 1864 – Sank 1873
The Ironsides was a steamer passenger ship of 1,123 tons, wood hull construction 218 feet long at the keel and 231 feet long overall length, with a beam of just over 30 feet.
Mostly a rubble wreck but distinguished by the strengthening arches running along both sides and tons of parts, pieces and machinery including her engines and propellers.
Located straight off the South Haven harbor at N 43° 02.898′ W 086° 19.146′ in ~120′ of water.
This is a dive for “Experienced Divers” used to strong current and miniminal visibility
