Pleasant Lake – Edwardsburg, MI

Very nice day for afternoon dive in Pleasant Lake located off of Cass Street in Edwardsburg, Michigan.

A nice little lake with a beach at Linbergh Park or boat launch entry point off of Lake Street. . The bottom by the swim area is very nice but once away from that area the bottom is silt and muck. There was a porta-John at the park and near the boat launch.

It’s a small 80 acre lake with a max depth of about 53 feet. Not sure if that included the depth of the muck and loose pack bottom though.

The water temperature was in the high 60’s on the surface and did not hit a thermocline down to 20 feet.

Visibility was 5 to 10 feet as long as you did not fin the bottom or rake your hand on the bottom. It’s getting very weedy with algae blooms in progress but was navigable at this point. Saw some blue gill and a nice bass, no clams but tons of snails in the shallows.
